Daniel Jones only needs 1 play to make Giants fans lose their minds with near pick-six

What was Jones thinking here?

Yeah, this is not the start NY Giants fans were hoping for with Daniel Jones back on the field for the first time since tearing his ACL. In preseason Week 2 against the Houston Texans, Jones got the start for the G-Men and people were ready to see him show improvements.

However, about five seconds into the game, he already had folks tearing their hair out. Danny Dimes stepped back and fired off a rocket intended for No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers. However, stud cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. jumped the route and nearly intercepted the ball. Had he come down with it, six points would have been put on the board for Houston:

After a short screen to Theo Johnson, Jones tried connecting with Nabers on a deep ball, but it fell incomplete. A 3-and-out to start the preseason for Jones? Not what the doctor ordered, but it's too early to hit the panic button.

What's disappointing here, however, is that everyone was hoping for Jones to show his potential right from the start. In 2023, he was known more for terrible throws and infuriating turnovers. The fact that he closed the campaign with only two touchdowns, while adding six interceptions, was a joke.

We're just thankful Stingley let the ball hit the turf. Otherwise, Jones would be getting ripped to shreds on social media. Unfortunately, the near INT has countless Big Blue supporters letting loose on him already. He needs to step up his play to try and calm nerves and quiet down his haters.
