Daniel Jones rightfully nowhere to be seen in new ESPN QB rankings
He can go ahead and use this as more motivation. Unfortunately for NY Giants QB Daniel Jones, he's not being taken too seriously this offseason ahead of the 2024 campaign. Everything went wrong for him last year, of course including his torn ACL suffered vs. the Raiders.
When the Giants signed Drew Lock, a lot of analysts assumed he'd potentially take the starting job away from Danny Dimes - that's not going to happen. Despite that, Jones isn't being viewed as a solid QB1 by many. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler continued his tradition of reaching out to coaches and execs for their opinions on players around the league. For the QBs, Patrick Mahomes was of course No. 1.
As you might have been able to guess, Jones was nowhere close to the Top 10. Not only that, he wasn't an honorable mention and didn't even make the 'also received votes' cut. This isn't a shocker, but it's also not where anyone thought the Giants and their QB would be after giving him $160 million.

The Top 10 list was made up of Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Matthew Stafford, Justin Herbert, C.J. Stroud, Aaron Rodgers, Jared Goff and Dak Prescott. The honorable mentions were Brock Purdy, Jordan Love, Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, Kirk Cousins and Trevor Lawrence. Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield also received votes.
Let this be another example of the G-Men potentially having 'buyer's remorse' over giving Jones his four-year deal. With that said, Joe Schoen does have an out after this upcoming season and all signs are pointing to Jones being released by the organization next offseason.
However, what if Jones plays out of his mind and takes advantage of the offensive line improvements, plus the addition of No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers? Not only would he potentially save his Giants career, but he'd no question raise his stock in QB rankings.
Obviously, Jones could care less about rankings - he's going to focus on getting the job done on the field. In six games last year, he tossed for two touchdowns and six interceptions before tearing his ACL vs. Las Vegas.
There's a good reason he's an afterthought when it comes to quality QBs right now. However, Jones can change the narrative surrounding his name by returning to his 2022 form. Soon enough, we'll find out if that happens or not.
