Stop us if you've heard this before, but NY Giants receiver Darius Slayton is never going to put up with people trying to bring his teammates down on social media. Slayton has been quick to clap back at people for trying to bring down Daniel Jones and now more of the same is happening with Tommy DeVito.
Leading up to the Packers game, plenty of people assumed the rookie quarterback would come crashing down to earth and have a rough showing. The opposite was the case, with DeVito posting 229 total yards and a touchdown. Well, one poor Giants fan in particular had to eat his words, with Slayton reminding him of his terrible take leading up to kickoff:
Darius Slayton clapping back at a Tommy DeVito hater is priceless
So, this guy assumed DeVito would throw four interceptions on the night and the G-Men would be down 30-3 late in the fourth quarter? Not a chance. Thanks to a brilliant final drive from DeVito (4-of-4 for 53 yards), the Giants were able to stun the Packers 24-22.
It was the third straight win for the Giants and the third straight game where DeVito looked nothing like a guy out of Illinois who went undrafted last April. DeVito is not only making great plays with his strong right arm, but he's breaking free for impressive runs too.
His wheels are totally underrated and his ability to get out of the pocket has been awesome to see too. Need further proof of that? Go ahead and watch the touchdown pass to Isaiah Hodgins again. It's downright electric:
As for Slayton, he finished with only 14 yards on two receptions, but one of those catches came during the game-winning drive. Slayton's numbers may not be what fans would have hoped for '23, but goodness, he works his tail off on the field and it's tough to find anyone who's as good a teammate as he is. If you even think about going after one of his boys, he'll be quick to put you in your place.
