When it was announced that the NY Giants had traded for Darren Waller, people couldn't believe it. One of the best tight ends in the game making his way to East Rutherford? That's exactly what happened and the expectations are through the roof for the veteran pass-catcher.

For Waller, he admitted in an interview with the Las Vegas Journal that he wasn't overly surprised that he was traded. However, he had no idea that the G-Men were interested in landing his services. Now that he's with Big Blue, though, Waller is focused on helping this offense reach new heights.

Darren Waller was a bit surprised about being traded to the NY Giants

"I had heard some things (about being traded). There were different moments throughout the year that I heard I may be traded or I may not. So the actual event of it wasn't too shocking. But I didn't expect it to be the Giants."

Waller's relationship with the Raiders kept getting worse and worse, and it was clear he and new head coach Josh McDaniels weren't getting along too handsomely. This opened up the door for general manager Joe Schoen to trade LV a third-round pick in exchange for Waller.

This felt like an absolute steal for the Giants. When Waller is healthy, he's without question one of the best TEs out there. However, people remain a bit worried that he's missed 17 games over the past two campaigns. That's not good at all, but Waller is focused on staying on the field in '23.

Adding him to the passing game is going to be massive for Danny Dimes and Co. Waller may have been a bit surprised to join the Giants, but fans all over the place are thrilled he's now a part of the organization. As we mentioned above, the expectations are high for Waller, but a solid campaign should be on the way for him.
