Dexter Lawrence shares great advice he gave Malik Nabers after Week 2 drop
He's the talk of the town and rightfully so. NY Giants wideout Malik Nabers had another memorable performance, this time coming in a Big Blue victory. For this first time in his professional career, Nabers was able to celebrate following the final whistle - he posted 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns too.
The week before, though, Nabers was down in the dumps despite hauling in 10 balls for 127 yards and a score. Why? Because he had a fourth quarter drop on 4th down that played a role in the Giants blowing it against the Commanders. Nabers called himself out after that loss, saying that he let veterans on the team down.
All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence found out about that and he wasn't going to let the rookie shoulder the blame for the 0-2 start. Following the Week 3 win, Lawrence said he connected with Nabers and told him to keep his head up. This is what being a veteran leader is all about:
Dexter Lawrence had amazing advice for Malik Nabers to lift the rookie's spirits
This is simply amazing from Sexy Dexy. He had a great point too. Nabers could have been down in the dumps and let it impact his play on the field. Instead, he focused on bouncing back and helping the Giants take down the Browns - not a lot of people gave the G-Men a chance to pull off the upset.
Nabers even admitted that he's still upset about his drop, but hey, he can also enjoy the fact that his two-touchdown performance in Cleveland helped this team get to 1-2. Let's not forget that if Nabers wasn't on the field vs. the Commanders, there's no way the Giants would have even come close to winning. He was basically the entire offense for that game.
Next up for Nabers and the Giants will be a crucial Thursday Night Football meeting with the Cowboys. Brian Daboll is yet to take down America's Team since taking over as head coach in 2022. He would love nothing more than to improve to 2-2, while having Dallas fall to 1-3. In order for that to happen, both Nabers and Lawrence are going to have to play like their usual selves.
