With the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine now in the rear view mirror, free agency is now in full view for the NY Giants. The fun is about to begin. On March 11 at 12 p.m. ET, the legal tampering period begins, as teams can begin contacting the agents and representatives for players and negotiate prospective deals. Two days later, on March 13 at 4 p.m. ET, all deals can become official with the start of the new calendar year for the NFL.

A year ago, Bobby Okereke could be considered the Giants best free-agent signing given the season he put forth in 2023. The Giants also made a splash via the trade route when they acquired veteran tight end Darren Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders. The jury is still out on that deal, as it’s uncertain if Waller will return for a second season or retire.

There are plenty of big names in this year’s free agency class. So, for Giants general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll, what would be the dream scenario for this upcoming free agency period? Let’s look at five big-time targets for the Giants.

5. OL Mike Onwenu

This is probably a name you've seen linked with the Giants multiple times this offseason - yes, Mike Onwenu would be a tremendous get for Schoen in free agency. Onwenu has the versatility to line up either on the inside or outside, but we like him at offensive guard for the G-Men.

There was plenty of speculation that the New England Patriots could franchise tag Onwenu ahead of the deadline, but that didn't prove to be the case. Now, the massive lineman is set to hit free agency and you've got to imagine Schoen won't waste much time in reaching out to him.

It goes without saying, but New York simply has to improve the offensive line this upcoming season. It's been about 10 years of misery watching the guys up front try and protect NY quarterbacks. Onwenu is a certified baller and he could really improve the group as a whole.
