Way too early 2024 Mock Draft: 4 possible first-round picks for the Giants
By Reese Nasser
3. Florida State EDGE Jared Verse
With Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari taking the field, the Giants already have a young EDGE duo with high upside. But with Ojulari's injury history, the team could still look to add another young member to the group. Florida State's Jared Verse could be an elite option in the first round.
During his first two seasons, Verse took the field for the University of Albany. Over these two seasons, he recorded 46 solo tackles, 74 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, and 13.5 sacks. After spending two seasons in Albany, Verse transferred to Florida State in 2022. In his first season with the team, he recorded 22 solo tackles, 48 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and nine sacks.
Following this campaign, many believed that Verse was one of the top EDGE talents in the 2023 class. But to the shock of many, he made the move to return to school. Now when looking at the 2024 group, he is arguably the most pro-ready. With his skill set, he could play across from Thibodeaux. With this one-two punch, and Ojulari also in the mix, this trio could quickly elevate an already dominant defensive front.
