ESPN has the NY Giants attacking WR and CB in new 2-round NFL Mock Draft
Maybe the NY Giants plan to help out Daniel Jones instead of drafting his replacement - that's what some people think will end up happening once April 25 gets here. Yes, there's speculation that the Giants will trade up to bring in a Danny Dimes replacement.
However, Schoen could look to see if Jones can bounce back in 2024 and not give up on his $160 million investment on him just yet. In a new ESPN mock draft from Field Yates, he has the Giants going with Malik Nabers at No. 6 overall. In the second round, NY could target a young signal-caller too, but Yates has Schoen keeping New Jersey native Max Melton home.
Malik Nabers to the NY Giants at No. 6 overall would be a solid pick for Joe Schoen
"The Giants' wide receiver corps does not have a difference-maker at the moment, but that would all change with Nabers. He's the most explosive player in the draft and a run-after-catch nightmare for defenses; he forced 27 missed tackles in 2023 during a breakout season. While the Giants appear open to considering a first-round quarterback, there are already four off the board here, so I think the team would turn its attention to upgrading around Daniel Jones."
- Field Yates
Nabers is a player that countless Giants fans are quite familiar with, as he's been linked to Big Blue since before the 2023 season even got underway. The Nabers-to-NY buzz has only grown since the LSU wideout looked outstanding during his Pro Day.
As for Melton, he met with the Giants at their local Pro Day and he's coming off a strong season with Rutgers. Yates likes the idea of the G-Men drafting Melton with the No. 47 overall pick they received from Seattle in the Leonard Williams trade.
The Giants need serious help in the secondary, as a new cornerback is needed to start on the opposite side of the field from Deonte Banks, the 2023 first-round pick by the Giants. Should the Giants go WR and CB in the first two rounds, that would put an end to rumors that New York is done with Jones.
Going with Nabers and Melton would most definitely attack positions of need too. A lot of NY supporters would be thrilled if the first two rounds go down this way for Schoen and Co.
