3. OL Nick Gates

This one tugged at the heart strings and hit home for some Giants fans. After his incredible journey coming back from a gruesome injury which not only threatened his NFL career but his entire way of life, 27 year old Nick Gates moved on from Big Blue this year in free agency.

Gates was a versatile piece for the Giants, playing all five positions on the line, doing whatever was asked of him, and protecting his players from defenders. Giants fans will always love him for going toe to toe with Aaron Donald - even saying he was picking on AD. Which other offensive lineman can say that?

Fans were happy to see Gates healthy, but seeing him back on the field was just the cherry on top. Following the conclusion of this season, Schoen knew he had to continue to address the offensive line and build things through free agency and the draft. John Michael Schmitz, a second-round pick, has a bright future at center. Gates inked with the Commanders, which was tough to see. But hey, fans want the best for Gates, just not twice a year when he takes on the G-Men.
