Former NY Giants WR Sterling Shepard cooking the Eagles had Philly fans furious
You know what, we absolutely loved this. With the NY Giants off on Sunday after suffering the heartbreaking loss to the Cowboys, Big Blue supporters were able to relax and not have to worry about things. Instead, they were able to enjoy some fun NFL action, which included the Eagles taking home yet another L.
You know what made that Philly loss even better? The fact that former fan favorite Sterling Shepard played a big role in making that happen. Everyone in New York or New Jersey has nothing but love for the veteran wideout - he was a stud for the team and always gave it his all.
Injuries were a nightmare in recent seasons, leading to NY parting ways with him. He signed to the Tampa Bay practice squad, but was elevated for the Week 4 showdown. Shepard finished with three receptions for 51 yards in the 33-16 Buccaneers win, including an epic 30-yard grab. With Shepard hating the Eagles from his Big Blue days, you know this victory meant a ton:
Sterling Shepard will always be loved by NY Giants fans
Not much went right for the Eagles in this one and Shepard putting on a show made things even sweeter. On his 30-yard reception, he put an unreal move on Philly first-round pick Quinyon Mitchell. He then leaped high into the sky to come down with the ball from Baker Mayfield.
The Eagles entered the new campaign with hopes of getting back to the Super Bowl, but they're now 2-2 on the season. Injuries have mounted for this team, especially at wide receiver, but the fact that they're playing so sluggish is a bit of a surprise.
Hey, nothing Big Blue supporters are going to complain about, however. The Eagles defense had no answers for Tampa Bay and while Shepard finished with only three receptions, he reminded everyone that he's still got plenty left in the tank. He may not be in East Rutherford anymore, but he's one of the easiest guys to root for. Keep doing your thing, Shep.
