2 potential Giants first-round picks set Top 30 visits with NY
NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen could be ready to surprise us all once the first round of the NFL Draft arrives. The G-Men have been linked to several receivers over the past couple of months, but a stud cornerback could be on his way to town as well.
One player in particular for people to keep an eye on would be South Carolina defensive back Cam Smith. The Giants previously met with Smith ahead of the USC Pro Day. Now, the two sides will be able to reconnect once again leading up to the draft. Per insider Art Stapleton, Smith has scheduled a Top 30 visit to East Rutherford to meet with Big Blue.
South Carolina CB Cam Smith has scheduled a visit with the NY Giants
Multiple NFL Mock Drafts have the Giants going with Smith at No. 25 overall. This past season for the Gamecocks, the 6-1, 190-pounder recorded 27 total tackles, one interception and five pass deflections.
Although wide receiver is still a big need for this team, a young, exciting cornerback is also needed to help out NY. If all of the Giants top wideout targets are off the board by the time No. 25 rolls around, then who knows, maybe Smith could be the right choice for this squad.
However, don't forget about wideouts as a whole. On Wednesday night, the Giants had dinner with TCU WR Quentin Johnston ahead of his Pro Day. On top of that, Stapleton is also reporting that Boston College WR Zay Flowers has also scheduled a Top 30 visit to New Jersey too.
Both Johnston and Flowers have been mocked to the Giants. However, several other mocks have Johnston going to either the Vikings or Ravens, with Minnesota and Baltimore on the clock at No. 22 and No. 23 overall, respectively.
