Giants Rumors: DeAndre Hopkins contract demands revealed
These days, everyone is sitting on pins and needles waiting to see who star wideout DeAndre Hopkins will end up signing with. NY Giants fans are hoping to see the former All-Pro wideout at MetLife Stadium catching balls from Daniel Jones.
However, we don't think that's going to end up happening due to the amount of dough Hopkins is looking for in his next contract. According to The Athletic's Tim Graham, two execs have told him that they believe Hopkins is looking for a deal similar to what the Ravens gave Odell Beckham Jr.
The Ravens ended up signing Beckham to a one-year deal worth up to $18 million, with $15 million guaranteed. Yeah, there's no way general manager Joe Schoen is going to reach that number for D-Hop.
DeAndre Hopkins is looking for Odell Beckham Jr.-type money
With the limited cap space the Giants have right now, it was always a long shot for them to land Hopkins, but fans still had some hope. However, if Nuk is eyeing something in the $15-18 million range per season, then we can go ahead and cross the Giants off as a potential suitor.
Earlier in the week, head coach Brian Daboll said the Giants would 'look into' things and 'research' Hopkins the same way they would with any free agent who the front office thought could make the team better. Hopkins no question would improve the offense.
The Giants made some big moves this offseason on offense, including trading for Darren Waller and drafting Jalin Hyatt. However, there's still no true WR1 on this team. That's why so many people have been wanting Hopkins to land with the G-Men.
Adding a player of Hopkins' caliber would surely be massive for Jones and Co., but only if it makes sense from a financial standpoint. With Hopkins wanting Odell-type money, there's just now way Big Blue can make something happen.
