Earlier in the week, NY Giants head coach Brian Daboll made it quite clear that there's no quarterback controversy in East Rutherford: Daniel Jones is his guy. However, Danny Dimes is out for his second consecutive game, with Tyrod Taylor getting the start.
So far, things are looking pretty darn good for Taylor and the Giants, with them just entering the halftime break up 14-0 against the Commanders. As of this writing, Taylor has thrown for 209 yards and two touchdowns - one to Darren Waller and one to Saquon Barkley.
To throw for more than 200 yards in the first half alone is impressive. Because of how great he's playing, a lot of people out there think that this offense is looking way better with Tyrod out there over Jones. It's hard to argue with that...
Tyrod Taylor is putting on a show for the NY Giants vs. Washington
If you take a look on social media, countless Giants fans are showering Taylor with love and rightfully so. Before he went down with his neck injury, Jones was struggling and he couldn't get his unit into any kind of a rhythm. Taylor is also dealing with a banged-up offensive line, but he's still moving the chains. Big Blue supporters are taking notice of this:
As you can see from those tweets above, folks are loving what they're seeing out of Taylor and it has them convinced that he's a better option over Jones. The fact of the matter, though, is that general manager Joe Schoen gave Jones $160 million this offseason.
It is simply way too early to throw the towel in on Jones after making such a big investment on him earlier in the year. Coach Dabes has backed Jones for a while now, but if Taylor continues to look so strong when out on the field, it will only put more pressure on Jones to up his game when he's back from his injury. If he struggles, fans will be begging for Daboll to send him to the bench in favor of Taylor.
