Earlier this offseason, the New York Giants revealed alternate uniforms for the 2024 season. The consensus wasn't great.
Now, before the Giants have even had a chance to wear their new uniforms, they've attained the status of worst jerseys in Giants history by Christian D'Andrea of For The Win.
"Behold, the only entry on this list that, as of publication, hasn’t actually been worn on the field. The Giants will don these tributes to their pre-World War II era in a wild mishmash of styles. Before even getting to the gold pants we’ve got to talk about those jerseys, which identify more closely with the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens than any NFL team. The non-descript blue shoulder stripe throws off a precarious balance.Christian D'Andrea
What makes this worse is the Giants already had great throwbacks. All they have to do is don anything from the 1980s and look clean as hell."
This isn't a hot take by any means. Most Giants fans seem to hate these alternates and it is even worse when you consider that, as D'Andrea said, they have throwbacks that are straight fire. Why couldn't they have gone with those as their alternate jerseys instead of these to honor their 100th season?
Giants 2024 alternate jerseys continue to get dunked on
Hey, it could be worse, I guess. At least the Giants are trotting out onto the field in those awful Pittsburgh Steelers bumblebee throwbacks or the mustard yellow Jaguars color rush unis, so it could always be worse.
That being said, the Giants are going to have to get used to getting clowned on for these jerseys. They haven't even worn them on the field yet, but Giants fans are already over the pre-World War II throwbacks. Hopefully, these are a one-and-done kind of thing, but it's safe to say that this won't be the last time we see the 2024 alternates as the pick for the New York Giants' worst jerseys of all-time.
