Now is not the time for NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen to get hectic. Entering the season finale against the Eagles on Sunday, NY holds a 5-11 record and they're (for now) set to have the No. 5 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The buzz continues to grow that Schoen will be taking a quarterback to replace Daniel Jones as the QB1 of the future for the NFC East side. However, with Russell Wilson expected to be released in the coming months, some analysts think Schoen could push to try and sign the Super Bowl winner. This includes CBS' Cody Benjamin, who listed NY as a potential landing spot for Wilson.

The Giants simply can't pursue Russell Wilson this offseason

"Wait, what? Yep, you read that right. New York just paid Daniel Jones big bucks last offseason, but he regressed in a big way before suffering a torn ACL amid a battered supporting cast. Tommy DeVito and Tyrod Taylor faring better in relief suggests Jones could be out of a job regardless of his rehab; he can be designated a post-June 1 release after the season without the Giants losing any money against the 2024 cap. And then there's the Big Apple connection for Wilson: Before the longtime Seahawks star was dealt to Denver, the Giants' current regime reportedly inquired about his availability."

Wilson is turning 36 next fall and while he looked sharp at times this season, he also had his fair share of struggles. Why do you think Sean Payton decided to send him to the bench for the final two games of the season? Yes, the Broncos want to save money, but Wilson simply didn't get the job done in Denver from the moment he made the move from Seattle to Colorado.

With Schoen expected to have a Top 5 pick, Big Blue supporters want to see the Giants go with a youngster in the draft to replace Jones instead of an aging quarterback whose best football is behind him. Wilson to East Rutherford just wouldn't make a ton of sense.

Jones signed his $160 million extension, but at this point, it wouldn't be a shock to see him with a new team after the 2024 campaign. Wilson is going to be far too expensive for the Giants to even consider once March rolls around. Schoen needs to pass on him and focus on a college stud.
