Giants News: Daniel Jones 'feeling good,' Joe Schoen brings back familiar RB
After missing back-to-back games due to his neck injury, will NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones be able to get back on the field to face the Jets this weekend? That's what Big Blue supporters are hoping to find out soon, as Danny Dimes is needed - but only if he's close to 100 percent.
While speaking with Kay Adams on Tuesday morning, Jones wasn't able to give much of an update on his playing status for Week 8. However, Jones did say that he's feeling good and that he's able to throw, run and lift. While that's all positive news, the former No. 6 overall pick is yet to be cleared for contact:
Will Daniel Jones be able to play vs. the Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium?
Jones had a smile on his face, which was nice to see, but again, he didn't really hint as to whether or not he'll be in uniform for the East Rutherford battle or not. With Jones sidelined, Tyrod Taylor has been starting in his place, with plenty of fans being quite impressed with his play.
In the Week 7 victory over the Commanders, Taylor went 18-of-29 on his pass attempts for 279 yards and touchdown passes to tight end Darren Waller and running back Saquon Barkley. Taylor has looked sharp and he'll be ready to deliver if his number is called vs. Gang Green. If Jones is cleared, though, then it will be the former first-rounder who will lead the offense out onto the field this weekend.
Giants sign RB Jashaun Corbin off the Panthers practice squad
Elsewhere for the offense, the Giants are banged up at running back, with Gary Brightwell and rookie Eric Gray dealing with injuries. Because of this, general manager Joe Schoen went out and signed youngster Jashaun Corbin off the Carolina practice squad.
Corbin is a name that plenty of fans are familiar with, as the former Florida State standout was with the G-Men last season, but he was released this summer. Corbin didn't appear in any games for the Panthers this year, but he'll now look to make an impact for NY in this latest stint with the NFC East side.
