Giants News: Depressing Darren Waller injury update, Dexter Lawrence robbed, Brian Daboll on Leonard Williams
Dexter Lawrence somehow wasn't named NFC Defensive Player of the Week
Meanwhile on defense, it's been a rough couple of days for star nose tackle Dexter Lawrence after his incredible performance vs. the Jets. The NFL's Players of the Week were released on Wednesday, but Carolina's Frankie Luvu, a former superstar for the Washington State Cougars, took home the honors on defense.
No disrespect to the Panthers linebacker, but this 100 percent should have gone to Sexy Dexy. In the tough loss to the Jets, Lawrence was an absolute monster in the trenches, posting 15 pressures on quarterback Zach Wilson. This tied the record for the most pressures by an interior lineman during a single game. Lawrence could not be stopped.
Luvu had himself a fantastic game for Carolina over the weekend, posting 12 tackles, one sack and two pass deflections. He's a baller, we're not going to deny that. However, Lawrence deserved to be the Defensive Player of the Week. You could make the argument Kayvon Thibodeaux, who had three sacks on Sunday, should have gotten it over Luvu too. Oh, another reason Lawrence may be feeling down? His buddy Leonard Williams was traded to the Seahawks.
