Giants News: Depressing Darren Waller injury update, Dexter Lawrence robbed, Brian Daboll on Leonard Williams
Brian Daboll has nothing but love and respect for Leonard Williams
Speaking of Williams, it obviously isn't easy for Giants Nation to see him leave East Rutherford to start suiting up for the Seattle Seahawks. The trade went down on Monday, with NY getting a 2024 second-round pick in return, plus a 2025 fifth-rounder. Head man Brian Daboll was asked about the move and he didn't hesitate in speaking positively on his now former defensive stud:
"Love Leo. Have a lot of respect for Leo. Seattle called Joe (Schoen) and Joe told me about it. Joe had a private meeting with Leo - those guys talked about it, good conversation, and decided that that was what we were going to do, kind of on both ends. Lot of respect for Leo, certainly we’ll miss him, but I have confidence in A’Shawn (Robinson) and Nacho (Rakeem Nunez-Roches) and those guys that we have that are playing his spot."
- Brian Daboll
Williams had been a bit up and down for the Giants throughout the campaign, but he had a breakout game in the victory over the Commanders in Week 7. Williams had a sack, plus a crucial blocked field goal in the second half. Moving forward, Williams will be reunited with fellow former Giants stud Julian Love - the veteran safety signed with Seattle this past offseason.
