New NY Giants cornerback Deonte Banks isn't wasting any time in making loads of fans smile out there. Banks plays with a ton of confidence and swagger. Off the field, he's got a bubbly personality and he's easily going to fit in with the rest of the defensive backs.

As excited as Banks may be that he was the first-round pick for the G-Men and that he'll be packing his bags for the New York City area, that doesn't mean he's not focused on the task at hand. Shortly after he was drafted, Banks was asked about what he wants to check out in NY, and his answer was all business:

Deonte Banks is ready to be a standout CB for the Giants moving forward

'I'm here to play football" might be the best five words Banks could have said in this case. Man, it's great to see how zoned in he is on things. This is a young man who just had his life change in the best way possible, yet he understands that there will be major expectations for him.

You think now that Banks is in New York, he's just going to run off and check out all the sites and go clubbing in the East Village? Nope - that's not going to happen. Instead, look for Banks to work overtime in the weight room and do whatever is needed to help out the NY defense.

Defensive coordinator Wink Martindale is fired up to see what Banks can do in his system and understandably so. From a scheme perspective, Banks is an ideal fit for Martindale and what he's trying to get done.

Banks is fantastic in press man coverage, only allowing one receiver to top 50 yards in a game while he was at Maryland. With his determined mindset, Banks has the tools to be electric for the G-Men moving forward. The NY supporters are liking this youngster more and more each day.
