The drama is over. With NY Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale cursing out Brian Daboll and then bolting for Florida, it was only a matter of time before a resolution was reached. That just happened, with the Giants announcing the two sides have mutually agreed to part ways.

However, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Martindale is now free to sign with any team that he wants. This is something we don't like - nope, not one bit. The Eagles have already been mentioned as a possible destination, but if Dan Quinn ends up taking over for Pete Carroll in Seattle, then look out for the Cowboys to try and sign Wink. Yikes.

On one side of things, it's beneficial for the Giants that they're keeping the $3 million that was due to Martindale. After Daboll fired Drew Wilkins as outside linebackers coach and Martindale delivered several expletives in his direction before resigning, you knew there was zero chance the DC would return to Coach Dabes' staff.

With that said, the fact that Martindale can now go wherever he pleases just doesn't sit right with a lot of Big Blue supporters. Philly and Dallas will be teams to watch, but don't forget that the Commanders could be in play too - Martindale spent four seasons not too far away over in Baltimore with the Ravens.

Martindale is sure to land interviews in the near future and he'll probably be looked at as a potential head coach too. There are some intriguing options there now and Martindale has made it quite clear he's always dreamed of running his own show.

It's up in the air where Wink will be for Week 1 of the 2024 season, but we know for sure that he won't be standing next to Daboll. Over the last few months, you just had a feeling a divorce would be on the way and that's exactly what has happened on Wednesday afternoon.
