Giants reportedly schedule Easter Sunday workout with J.J. McCarthy
The NY Giants are quite busy leading up to the NFL Draft, as it's Pro Day season and Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll are scouting some of their top targets. First, they traveled to LSU to see Jayden Daniels and Mailk Nabers put on a show - this included a dinner meeting with Nabers.
Things are being followed up by checking out Drake Maye at his UNC Pro Day. That's not all, as Pat Leonard is reporting that the Giants have scheduled a private workout on Easter Sunday with Michigan signal-caller J.J. McCarthy.
The Giants are ready to take another close look at J.J. McCarthy
It's no surprise at all that the Giants have scheduled a private workout with McCarthy, as the youngster's stock has skyrocketed this offseason. There are several teams interested in the Michigan product, as he's now being viewed as a Top 5 pick.
There's an outside chance the Giants will be able to land McCarthy at No. 6 overall. If Schoen is that high on him, or Daniels/Maye, he'll have to likely move into the Top 4 to bring in a new signal-caller of the future for this team.
However, don't forget that the Giants are working overtime in scouting stud wideouts too. Nabers turned heads when he posted a 4.35 40-yard dash. With his great hands and athletic ability too, he's being viewed as the kind of WR1 that could transform an offense.
This is something that Giants may be ready to provide for Daniel Jones, as he hasn't had a WR1 to work with since he arrived in East Rutherford back in 2019. Nabers or Rome Odunze both should be available when it's NY's turn to send their pick in, but a trade up for a QB is something to watch for too. And of course, McCarthy will be a prospect for Big Blue fans to follow closely. If he keeps turning Schoen's head, he could prove to be his guy once late April arrives.
