The countdown is getting much shorter for Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft to get here. For the NY Giants and general manager Joe Schoen, that means it's almost time to decide if they'll bring in a stud wideout for Daniel Jones, or trade up to find a long-term Danny Dimes replacement.

Should Schoen pick the latter, then Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels and J.J. McCarthy will all be players for Giants Nation to monitor. However, perhaps the LSU signal-caller would make the most sense. In a new ESPN piece, Jordan Raanan said Daniels is a name to 'keep an eye on,' as his sources are telling him the NY front office is pretty dang high on his potential.

Jayden Daniels to the NY Giants could end up happening in the first round

"When it comes to this year's quarterbacks, Daniels is a name to keep an eye on, if he's not among the top two picks with Williams. He is a player who is well-regarded within the organization and that multiple sources with connections to Schoen and Daboll believe would be an ideal fit in their offense. There is also interest in McCarthy, especially if he is available at No. 6."

It's up in the air how the top of the draft is going to shape out. Caleb Williams should go No. 1 to the Bears, but then no one knows what the Commanders are going to do at No. 2. They need a QB - perhaps Maye is the one they go with? The Patriots could then take McCarthy or Daniels.

Then at No. 4 and No. 5, the Cardinals and Chargers aren't in need of new QBs, which could leave a top option available for the Giants at No. 6. If the cards fall right, Daniels may still be on the board when it's Schoen's turn to make his pick.

That would be a dream come true, as it would prevent him from having to send a bunch of picks to an organization to move up into the Top 3. Daniels to East Rutherford is something that's going to be discussed all the way until April 25. We'd love to see it happen, but someone like McCarthy or Maye could be the answer too - don't forget about wideouts Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze either.
