Giants Rumors: A Saquon Barkley trade to the Cleveland Browns will never happen
With the NFL trade deadline inching closer and fast approaching on Oct. 31, you just knew that sooner or later there'd be some talk around NY Giants running back Saquon Barkley. This has been the case in recent years and '23 will be no different.
However, it would be a major shock if general manager Joe Schoen even thinks about moving the Pro Bowl running back. Craig Carton doesn't think that will be the case. This week, Carton has pitched the idea of the G-Men sending Barkley to the Browns following the horrific injury suffered by Nick Chubb.
The Browns offense is simply not the same without Chubb, who is out for the rest of the season. However, New York can't survive without No. 26 out on the field and things are going to be rough with Barkley expected to miss the Week 3 tilt with the 49ers with his sprained ankle.
With all of that said, Carton needs to pump the breaks here. Barkley won't play for another team this fall. Besides, a day after he went on this rant, Cleveland brought back Kareem Hunt on a one-year deal.
Saquon Barkley trade rumors are back earlier than expected
Barkley himself suffered an injury in Week 2, going down late in the heartstopping comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals. According to Adam Schefter, Barkley is expected to miss around three weeks with his bum ankle.
Head man Brian Daboll said on Tuesday that he's not ready to rule out Barkley for the Thursday Night Football showdown with San Francisco, but it'd be a major stunner if the speedster is able to take the field. Rushing Barkley back into action too soon could prove to be a major mistake.
Once Barkey is healthy enough to suit up, though, he'll return to being a true stud for this team. With that said, trade rumors are going to keep flying in on Barkley, which is a bummer. This is something NY fans are quite used to - yet nothing will come from it. Barkley won't be going anywhere.
