NY Giants 2022 first-round pick Evan Neal: B-

At the time, we would have given this pick a solid A. Evan Neal was a stud at Alabama and Schoen brought him in to lock down the right tackle spot for years to come. We're not going to sugarcoat things here, however, as Neal's debut season was way too inconsistent. Him giving up, per Pro Football Focus, seven sacks was simply too much.

A lot of people have already written off Neal as a bust, but we don't want to jump things here either. Keep in mind that star left tackle Andrew Thomas also struggled quite a bit during his rookie season. Then in 2021, Thomas showcased major improvements. Fast forward to this past season, and Thomas has become an All-Pro left tackle.

This just goes to show that not everyone can get used to the speed of defensive linemen to start off their careers. However, Neal has the tools to bounce back in a big way next season. For now, we're sticking with our B- grade for him because of his rough '22, but that doesn't mean we don't believe that Neal can become an electric player for head man Brian Daboll.
