How Many Picks are in the NFL Draft?
The NFL Draft is right around the corner and football fans can't wait for the first round to arrive. Well, except for the Miami Dolphins supporters, as they won't have a first-rounder this year. Regardless, countless fans can't wait to see who their team takes on the first night of the action.
However, it's not just the first round that's going to make plenty of headlines. From start to finish, the excitement for the draft can't be measured. It's easily one of the best events of the year for football fans across the country. With that said, how many picks are on the way later this month?
There will be 259 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft
Throughout the seven rounds, with things going from Thursday, April 27 to Saturday, April 29, there will be a total of 259 selections made in the 2023 NFL Draft. With Miami losing it's first-rounder this year, there will only be 31 picks made in the first round, instead of the usual 32.
After that, Rounds 2-3 will take place on Friday, April 28, while Rounds 4-7 will wrap things up on Saturday, April 29. There have been some fantastic late picks made by teams over the years, including the infamous 'Mr. Irrelevant.'
Last season, the 49ers picked a little-known QB by the name of Brock Purdy with the final selection of the 2022 NFL Draft. Due to injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance, Purdy ended up starting quite a bit and helped the team go on a postseason run. Purdy is no ready to win the starting job next campaign.
Don't even sleep on late-rounders, folks. All in all, the draft later this month will be a ton of fun, with young players seeing their dreams come true.
