Major flaw in Daniel Jones' game haunted the Giants in disheartening loss to Dallas

This was a game the NY Giants should have won. Not only that, it really feels like this was a showdown they let slip away despite trailing for most of the night. The defense did its job, keeping Dak Prescott and Co. in check in the second half. However, the Big Blue offense wasn't able to make the necessary plays throughout this contest, failing to find the end zone.

It's tough to put a ton of blame on one single person, but Daniel Jones just wasn't good enough. He played fine and made some solid throws, finishing with 281 yards for the Thursday Night Football battle. However, time and time again, the former first-round pick has shown one particular area where he can't get the job done: throwing the ball deep downfield.

On more than one occasion, Jones underthrew a wideout, which was tough to see. It was a major takeaway from NY's 20-15 loss to Dallas, which now has the squad at 1-3 on the year.

Daniel Jones didn't do enough to lift the Giants over the Cowboys in primetime

This isn't all on Jones, however. There were some brutal drops by wideouts in the fourth quarter. Darius Slayton had a ball hit him in the hands on a diving attempt. The drop led to Greg Joseph's fifth field goal of the night.

Then with around 3:30 left in the action, Jones put a ball right on Wan'Dale Robinson's hands, but No. 17 let it hit the turf. Still, this was a game where head man Brian Daboll wanted to be more aggressive to try and make things tough on the Dallas defense. Again, there were multiple times where Jones simply didn't put enough air on the ball, which can't happen in Year 6.

On paper, Jones had a solid night, throwing for 281 yards and completing 29-of-40 pass attempts - he had an interception on a desperation throw late in the action. However, you're never going to beat a team as talented as Dallas when you leave points off the board and can't punch it into the end zone.

Things are only made worse when a head-turning play is there to be made, but the ball falls incomplete because Jones' arm strength isn't where it needs to be. Daboll is now 0-5 against the Cowboys as the NY head coach. This one stings, no question.
