This is the kind of play that can earn you a spot on the 53-man roster. For NY Giants defensive tackle Elijah Chatman, he continues to do himself a ton of favors in sticking around for Week 1. After the preseason Week 2 loss to Houston, it almost feels like a lock that he'll be around to face the Vikings.

Despite being an undrafted free agent, Chatman has turned heads ever since he joined the G-Men. Against the Lions, he was fantastic. Then against the Texans, he has gone viral thanks to him getting on his horse, sprinting down the field and bringing down Texans running back J.J. Taylor. The NFL Network's Brian Baldinger shared a new angle of Chatman's unreal tackle and it's only going to make fans love this kid even more:

Elijah Chatman is becoming an NY Giants fan favorite

That's just out of this world. Chatman is a 278-pounder, yet he was able to display some pretty incredible speed for more than 40 yards. He quite literally chased down a speedy back. As Baldinger noted, this was all heart from Chatman, who prevented Houston from putting six more points on the board.

Coming out of SMU, the word on Chatman was that he had a ton of talent, but he was simply too undersized to stick in the NFL. He had a rookie tryout with Seattle before joining the Giants. It sure looks like Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen have a diamond in the rough with their new playmaker.

Chatman's chances to make the Week 1 roster went up when Schoen traded veteran DT Jordan Phillips to Dallas. However, that move was made possible with the UDFA playing so well this summer. He took another huge step forward vs. Houston. Chatman is so easy to root for. Luckily for Giants Nation, it looks like they're going to see him in a Big Blue jersey once the fall gets here too.
