Quite literally anything can happen leading up to the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen is known as a bit of a magician, so nothing can be ruled out for what he might do on draft night. Could this include moving up to land the No. 1 overall pick?

In his latest Mock Draft for CBS Sports, Chris Trapasso has Schoen pulling off a MASSIVE deal with the Chicago Bears to land the top spot. And with that No. 1 overall pick, Trapasso thinks the Giants will go with USC quarterback Caleb Williams. It's going to cost him a lot, though:

The Giants taking Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick would be a stunning move

"Even with a prohibitive Daniel Jones contract, along with quality play from Tommy DeVito and Tyrod Taylor in 2023, the Giants swing for the fences at quarterback to land Williams.

In Trapasso's article, he indeed has the Giants receiving the top pick to go out and get Williams. In return, though, the Giants will be sending Chicago their first-round pick (No. 5 overall), a second-round pick, a fourth-round pick, plus a first-round pick in next year's draft, a third-rounder in 2025 and Darius Slayton.

That's a lot to move up for Williams, but if Schoen wants to make a historic trade like this to bring in a new quarterback to replace Daniel Jones, then he's going to have to pay the price to make that happen. In this scenario, Justin Fields obviously would stay as the starter for the Bears.

This is something that some Bears fans don't want to happen. However, Fields has looked strong to close out the season and adding more weapons for him at receiver, including Slayton, could help things get even better for him in 2024. Trapasso has the Bears taking star LSU WR Malik Nabers at No. 10 overall too.

Meanwhile for the Giants, the buzz continues to grow that Schoen is going to draft 'his own quarterback' in April and move on from Jones as his QB1 of the future. Williams would be a dream get for plenty of Big Blue supporters, but is Trapasso's trade idea a bit too steep for the front office? Again, if Schoen wants that No. 1 overall pick, it's not going to come cheap for him.
