NFL drops the hammer on Giants for absurd brawls with Lions at joint practices

The league didn't love seeing the brawls in East Rutherford.

Roger Goodell and Co. saw everything they needed to. Apparently, the league office wasn't thrilled with the NY Giants and Detroit Lions treating their joint practices as an encore of the WWE's SummerSlam. Over the two days, countless brawls were recorded.

Daniel Jones was involved in one, while Malik Nabers and Kerby Joseph were firing some absolute haymakers at one another as well. So much for mutual love between the two sides. Having said that, the NFL decided to fine both teams in hopes of reminding them that they can't behave in this manner. It was announced that both organizations will be $200,000 lighter due to their antics in East Rutherford:

The Giants and Lions have been fined $200,000 by the NFL for fighting

You just had a feeling this was coming. Earlier this summer, teams indeed were told that fighting and 'unprofessional conduct' would not be tolerated. It's safe to say that the Giants and Lions didn't abide by the rules. Nope, not one bit:

That fight above was easily the most wild event from practice, but again, it wasn't the only one. Things were so bad on Day 2, Brian Daboll and Dan Campbell decided to end practice early. Some fans were disappointed, but it was the right move.

We've said it before, but the last thing anyone wants to see is a key player get injured over a practice brawl. Heck, it could have been a no-name undrafted free agent, but any sort of injury would have been a massive disappointment.

Fortunately, it looks like that was avoided, but it doesn't take away from the fact that the Lions and Giants players embarrassed themselves quite a bit. Because of how poorly they behaved in terms of fighting, the NFL decided to send a $200,000 reminder to both squads that this is never going to be allowed to happen.
