Let's hold the phone on making plans for New Orleans in early February, but is it possible that perhaps the NY Giants are going to perform way better than most people think they will? After going 6-11 last campaign, expectations aren't high for Brian Daboll and Co.

Don't tell that to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, however. While some analysts think the Giants are going to post another brutal year and be in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick, Breer sees the total opposite potentially going down. That's right, Breer has Big Blue as a 'Dark Horse' to go on a Super Bowl run in 2024.

Could the NY Giants be in Super Bowl contention this season?

"In the NFC, I think I’d give you the New York Giants, if you want a true dark horse. They need development from 2022 first-rounder Kayvon Thibodeaux. They need to figure it out at quarterback, whether it’s Daniel Jones or, if things break wrong for him, Drew Lock. But their rookie class looked dynamite in the spring, I think Brian Burns might be the best acquisition of the offseason, and they were really good two years ago."

Don't get us too excited over here, Albert! Look, we're not expecting the Giants to get to the Super Bowl and everyone will be thanking their lucky stars if this team somehow finds a way to sneak into the postseason. However, maybe Breer is seeing something we're missing?

The Giants have a new-look defense, highlighted by the addition of Brian Burns. The trio of Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Dexter Lawrence leading the pass-rush is going to be absolutely brilliant. Defensive coordinator Shane Bowen is a lucky man.

The offensive line is also going to be improved thanks to Joe Schoen bringing in Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor, while the wishful thinking is that Evan Neal can finally live up to his first-round hype. That will need to happen for him if he wants to stay with this team beyond 2024.

It'd be a miracle for the Giants to get to the Super Bowl - let's be realistic. With that said, Breer has confidence that this group will be able to turn things around and return to 2022 form. Let's hope the same can be said for Daniel Jones too. Could you imagine if Danny Dimes leads this team to NOLA this winter? Hey, crazier things have happened.
