Some new names are popping up as potential first-round picks for the NY Giants in about a week and it sure has people talking. From the jump, people have been expecting general manager Joe Schoen to go with either a wideout or a cornerback. However, Schoen might have something else in mind.

What about a star defensive lineman to help the efforts out up front? That's what ESPN insider Jordan Raanan has in mind, as he mentioned Clemson DT Bryan Bresee and Clemson DE Myles Murphy as potential targets for the G-Men late in the first round.

The NY Giants could make a surprise pick at No. 25 overall

Per Raanan's sources, bolstering the defensive line could be a priority for the Giants in the draft. With that said, both Bresee and Murphy would certainly help out in that department. We've seen what the Bills have been able to do with the DL in recent years and Schoen could look to model that.

With Bresee, the 6-5, 300-pounder is a force in the trenches and he was a quality player for the Tigers over his three years with the program. Last season, he posted 3.5 sacks. He was quite impressive at the NFL Combine, which helped boost his NFL Draft stock.

Meanwhile with Murphy, the fellow 6-5, 275-pound DE recorded 40 total tackles and 6.5 sacks in 2022. Similar to Bresee, he was a handful for opposing offensive linemen to try and contain throughout the year.

Plenty of NY fans have their eyes on Jordan Addison, Quentin Johnston, Zay Flowers and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Those four wideouts may be off the board by the time the Giants are on the clock, though.

Moving forward, Bresee and Murphy will certainly be players to keep an eye on following Raanan's report. Luckily, we only have to wait until April 27 to find out who the Giants will end up taking first.
