Leading up to Tuesday afternoon, NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen is going to be quite busy trying to trim his roster down. In two days, Schoen will need to get things down to 53 men, which will be no easy task.

On Sunday morning, the second-year GM is already working hard on things. Most notably, Schoen and the G-Men have decided to part ways with veteran running back James Robinson. Robinson arrived to East Rutherford hoping to push for a backup job to Saquon Barkley, but that won't be happening.

The NY Giants have released multiple players on Sunday

Robinson had a highlight-reel run vs. the Jets on Saturday night at MetLife Stadium, but it wasn't enough to keep him in town. Now, the former 1,000-yard rusher will hope to land a new opportunity with a different team outside of East Rutherford.

The RB wasn't the only one to get his walking papers, as according to The Athletic's Dan Duggan and other insiders, the G-Men have also released DL Kevin Atkins, DL Brandin Bryant, WR Jaydon Mickens, OT Julian Davenport, DL Donovan Jeter and more.

For a lot of players, Saturday's preseason finale vs. the Jets felt like a final chance to try and impress head man Brian Daboll. With that said, there's only so much room inside of the locker room for the Week 1 showdown vs. the Cowboys, with plenty of these early cuts expected.

Schoen isn't even close to being done, as he will have to have difficult conversations with a lot more guys leading up to Tuesday. A big question is whether or not slot cornerback Darnay Holmes will survive and land a spot on the 53-man roster. We'll find out soon enough what Schoen decides, but things could go either way there for the DB.
