NY Giants 53-man roster prediction ahead of the preseason opener
Wide Receivers: Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, Bryce Ford-Wheaton and Gunner Olszewski
The biggest storyline from the Giants' training camp has been how absurdly dominant Malik Nabers has been. Multiple noteworthy reporters have spoken on his performances and the film we've seen speaks for itself. Not only will Nabers be the Giants' undoubted WR1, but he looks to be a top-tier receiver in the league right away.
As for the rest of the list, it's pretty typical, with the last two spots being reserved for Bryce Ford-Wheaton and Gunner Olszewski for special teams. Ford-Wheaton has potential to be a gunner, and could also see the field as a pass-catcher, while Olszewski will be the Giants' returner.
This is where a player like Isaiah McKenzie falls out. All of the main receivers can do everything he does, and more, and Olszewski is the more experienced, and better returner, unfortunately making McKenzie the odd man out. We don't see veteran Allen Robinson sticking around either.
Tight ends: Daniel Bellinger, Theo Johnson, Lawrence Cager and Chris Manhertz
With two blocking specialists and two receivers, this TE core is looking to be a fun one for the Giants this season, as there is tons of versatility. It's not the most experienced in the league, but guys like Daniel Bellinger and Theo Johnson have a chance to make a real impact on the Giants this fall.
Bellinger is entering his third season with the Giants and has been a nice contributor for the team both as a blocker and pass-catcher. He will likely be the starter in Week 1, but don't count out Johnson just yet. Bellinger may provide a higher floor, but Johnson's athletic traits and receiving prowess could give Belly a run for his money.
As for Cager and Manhertz, they will be situational players. Manhertz has consistently been a solid blocking tight end, while Cager has shown flashes of potential as a pass-catcher over the last couple of seasons.
