We are getting into the heart of the New York Giants summer prep, and there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic. For the first time in years, the Giants offense feasted on the team's defense in training camp.

That's not an indictment on Big Blue's defense, as Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka's offense has been cooking on all cylinders. The Giants offense seems to be significantly stronger and deeper than the 2022 offense. New York ranked 18th in yards per game in 2022 (333.9), 26th in passing yards per game (185.7), fourth in rushing yards per game (148.2), and tied for 15th in points (21.5) last fall.

The wide receivers room, running backs room, tight ends room, and offensive line room are all stronger than they have been in the last decade. With that said, Joe Schoen will have to make some tough decisions in early September. Here are our 53-man roster projections with the preseason opener vs. the Lions coming on Friday night.

NY Giants quarterbacks

In: Daniel Jones, Tyrod Taylor
Out: Tommy DeVito

The Giants have one of the better quarterback rooms in football. Daniel Jones has been a monster in training camp, consistently cooking the Giants secondary. Jones, with Tyrod Taylor as his No. 2, has built solid chemistry with his new weapons, mainly Darren Waller and Parris Campbell Jr.

Jones has been walking around East Rutherford with a quiet confidence this summer. In an interview with Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record, Jones had an interesting response when asked if he was an elite quarterback.

"I'm very confident in myself. I'm very confident that I can play this game at a high level and lead this team to win a lot of games. Yeah, I'm very confident in myself."

Daniel Jones

Jones is always compared to his predecessor Eli Manning and for good reason. In August 2011, Manning was asked a similar question by ESPN New York's Michael Kay. Kay asked, "is Eli Manning an elite quarterback." Without stopping to think, the normally soft-spoken and humble Manning responded, "yeah I think I am."

Manning was bashed for that comment, as he had accomplished very little in his career up until that point (similar to Jones). Just six months later, Manning led his squad to a stunning Super Boxl XLII win over the undefeated New England Patriots and was named Super Bowl MVP. Now, we'll see what Jones will be able to get done for this team moving forward.
