NY Giants fifth-round pick: Maryland CB Tarheeb Still
Deonte Banks might be a fan of this pick, as he was a former teammate of Tarheeb Still from their time together at the University of Maryland. With the Giants looking to add help in the secondary and especially at cornerback, they’ve struck out in free agency.
They met with Darious Williams and Tre’Davious White, but both players landed deals with the Los Angeles Rams. It was pretty clear the Giants weren’t going to pay the veterans what they wanted and instead, will opt for the draft here to add to the depth at corner.
Along with Banks, who had a solid rookie season, the Giants also drafted Tre Hawkins a year ago, but he did struggle in his rookie campaign to where Adoree’ Jackson saw more time over him. However, with Jackson a free agent and the Giants possibly not interested in a reunion, the Giants look to someone like Still.
Still had five interceptions with 45 total tackles and two pass deflections in his senior season for Maryland. Having Still pair up with his old teammate in Banks, with Hawkins and Nick McCloud as backups, could give the cornerbacks room a boost.
