NY Giants sixth-round pick: Michigan DE Braiden McGregor
When the Giants made the trade on the first day of free agency to land Brian Burns from the Carolina Panthers, it took the pressure off needing to address the pass-rush for the defense, as Burns lining up on the opposite side of Kayvon Thibodeaux will be a massive boost.
The Giants still need to add depth on defense and add possible help on the edge and the line, so with their sixth round and final pick in the draft, the Giants take Braiden McGregor from Michigan. If some are wondering if McGregor’s name is familiar, the Giants met with him during the offseason.

McGregor finished with 4.5 sacks for the Wolverines in 2023 and also had two sacks in the College Football Playoff semifinal game against Alabama. The 2024 product has a motor that doesn't stop and his tape is quite impressive.

The Giants could use extra depth on the line with the departure of A’Shawn Robinson, who left as a free agent, and Leonard Williams, who was traded to the Seattle Seahawks at the trade deadline. They do have Jordon Riley, who was drafted a year ago in the seventh round, but he only appeared in eight games during his rookie campaign. Adding someone like McGregor gives the Giants additional help on the line and another possible pass-rusher.
