The NY Giants have no time to wait on Evan Neal to get his ankle healthy. Before camp got underway, plenty of eyebrows were raised when Neal, the former No. 7 overall pick, landed on the PUP list. It was frustrating news to receive.
Now, though, could the G-Men be getting ready for life without him on the line? That could be the case, as Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen revealed that projected starting left guard Jermaine Eluemunor will switch over to right tackle while Neal is banged up. Do we really think the Giants would do this if Neal was expected to retake his starting spot as soon as he's back on the field?
The NY Giants have wasted no time moving Jermaine Eluemunor to right tackle
Schoen said that Neal is close to working his way back, but the team is going to ease him back into things. If that was really the case, why would Eluemunor be moved to a different position for the start of camp? You only make this move if you think Eluemunor is your answer on the outside.
Now, though, it remains to be seen what will happen at right guard and left guard for the long haul. Jon Runyan Jr. had been slated to start at RG, but now he can potentially be switched to the other side. Might this open the door for Greg Van Roten to be signed and then take a starting spot?
Things are a bit unknown here, but what we do know is that Neal's climb to start Week 1 has just gotten even steeper. He's been labeled as a first-round bust due to his poor play over the past two years. Now, it's not wrong to think that he may never start another game for Daboll and the G-Men.
