NY Giants could trade 1 of these 4 players before the season-opener
1. WR Darius Slayton
Darius Slayton has been a very reliable wide receiver for the Giants, leading the team in receiving yards in four of the past five seasons. However, the G-Men have developed some strong WR depth and the veteran wideout is entering the final year of his current contract. He was hoping for an extension in the offseason, but that never arrived.
Slayton signed a two-year, $12.2 million contract last offseason, with plenty of fans excited he was brought back. Now, though, he's all set to hit free agency next winter. It seems unlikely that Schoen and Co. will give him another new deal, especially with the young talent for the aerial attack on the roster.
We still have not seen Slayton totally take off as a wide receiver, as he's never had 800 yards or more in receiving yards in his five years in the NFL. Add in the fact that Jalin Hyatt, Wan'Dale Robinson and Nabers are exciting young pieces, and it may be time for the Giants to start thinking about life without Slayton around. Could a mid-round pick this summer lead to Slayton's early exit? We'll find out soon enough.
