With all of the changes Joe Schoen and the NY Giants made this offseason, things could look relatively different for the starting offense and defense during the 2023 season. This very well could be a good thing as these changes could lead to improvement.

These four players weren't starters last season. However, due to injuries, contract issues, and other situations, we could see them become full-time starters in 2023. Their odds to start very well could be boosted significantly if they show out during camp:

4. RB Matt Brieda

Surprised? Normally, there wouldn't be a chance for Matt Breida to start. However, thanks to the Saquon Barkley contract situation that seemingly isn't getting any better, Breida very well could be the NY Giants' RB1 for Week 1. This obviously isn't the most ideal situation, but Breida is still a solid back that could make some plays as a pass-catcher and on the ground.

While it seemed as if the Barkley contract situation could be cleared up soon, recent reports make it seem like a holdout is as likely as ever. We'd like to see Barkley play in '23, but at the same time the Giants can't afford to cripple themselves financially considering the current running back market.

Regardless, in the scenario of a Barkley holdout, the Giants must be ready to have his replacement ready to go. This being Breida, who was a very solid RB2 for the Giants last season. In all likelihood, Breida would split snaps with rookie fifth-round pick Eric Gray. However, he'd likely be listed as the starter on the depth chart.

If this happens, the Giants will likely have a more pass-heavy offense in 2023 early on. This is probably what will happen whether Barkley holds out or not considering all of the additions made to the Giants' receiving core.
