This is what the preseason is for.

You know in an MLB game when a position player takes the mound late and throws 40 MPH meatballs right down the middle? It's a ton of fun to watch. Might we see something similar for the NY Giants against the Houston Texans in Week 2 of the preseason?

Drew Lock is dealing with a minor injury and he's hoping to suit up at NRG Stadium. If he's needed, then No. 2 could take the field. What happens if he needs some extra time to put the pads on? Daniel Jones will start and Tommy DeVito will also see a ton of the field. However, could tight end Tyree Jackson end up behind center come Saturday afternoon?

Tyree Jackson will be the 'emergency QB' for the NY Giants vs. Houston

Brian Daboll said the plan, for now, is not to sign a new quarterback. With that, it will open the door for Jackson to play some QB, which he did in college and the XFL, should something happen late in the action against the Texans.

Jackson is working his tail off to try and make the 53-man roster as a TE, but hey, if Coach Dabes needs him to run the offense for some time in the preseason, he's going to be ready to step in if his number is called.

Once Lock was deemed 'week to week' with his oblique strain, the assumption was that someone like Matt Barkley, who is familiar with the offense, would be brought to East Rutherford. Not so fast there, however, as Daboll appears to be comfortable with his QBs room.

Danny Dimes is going to hope to build some chemistry with his wideouts in a game situation, as this will be his first action since suffering his torn ACL. Behind him, DeVito will want to keep pushing for the QB2 job, as he made quite the statement vs. Detroit. As for Johnson? He'll begin at TE, but a move to QB for a day is now suddenly on the table for him.
