Watch Isaiah Simmons show his NY Giants potential with great pressure on Aaron Rodgers
This is exactly what NY Giants fans were hoping to see out of the new face in the building. The buzz around Big Blue continues to grow after the G-Men went out and landed Isaiah Simmons from the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a seventh-round pick.
Brian Daboll and Wink Martindale wasted no time letting Simmons do his thing, as he got the start at inside linebacker against the Jets on Saturday night. On the Jets' opening drive, on third down, Simmons shot out of a cannon coming off the edge and he put great pressure on Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers ended up tripping and throwing the ball out of bounds before he tumbled to the turf following additional pressure from Oshane Ximines. This was all set up by Simmons' fantastic play. Yup, Giants fans are going to love watching this guy throughout the 2023 campaign:

That was quite close to a Simmons sack, but regardless, this is something to get excited about. The former first-round pick showcased some fantastic speed for a 6-4, 240-pounder there, coming inches away from bringing Rodgers down.
Things just didn't work well for Simmons with the Cardinals, but the hope is that Daboll and Martindale are the coaches who can really help him take off in this league. Simmons posted 7.5 sacks in the past three years with Arizona, highlighted by four last campaign.
On the NBC broadcast, Carl Banks and Bob Papa revealed that Coach Dabes asked Simmons what he likes to do best, and the fourth-year defenseman said he's all about putting pressure on the quarterback. So far, so good for Simmons. This is only a small taste of what he'll be able to get done this year. Big Blue Nation has every right to be fired up about him.
