The buzz surrounding Jalin Hyatt continues to grow. Recently, it was revealed that the NY Giants were ready to take him in the second round if John Michael Schmitz was off the board. Instead, they ended up being able to land him in the third round. Awesome.

It turns out the Hyatt move to East Rutherford was months in the making. In a new interview, Joe Schoen said that he was on hand for the Tennessee upset win over Alabama in the fall. Schoen was there to see other guys and had no plans on focusing on Hyatt. That changed quite quickly, though.

Joe Schoen had nothing but good things to say about Jalin Hyatt

Hyatt was unreal in that win over the Crimson Tide, putting together one of the best performances from a college wideout in 2022. In that victory for the Vols, Hyatt caught six balls for 207 yards and a head-turning five touchdowns.

Those are video game-type numbers from Hyatt. It was one thing if he did this early in the campaign against a non Power-5 team or something, but he did this against Alabama and the one and only Nick Saban. Of course Schoen was going to be left favorably impressed with that kind of showing.

Hyatt is known for his incredible speed and people can't wait to see what he can do catching balls from Daniel Jones. With offensive coordinator Mike Kafka back with the Giants too, you already know he'll have Hyatt in a position to really open up the field.

Throughout the draft process, a lot of experts thought Hyatt had first-round potential. The fact that the Giants were able to get him in the third round still feels like a steal. Schoen is thrilled to have him in town and so are countless others.
