3. CB Darnay Holmes
Some are a bit surprised that Darnay Holmes still remains on the Giants roster, as he was talked about many times during the offseason as a potential salary cap casualty.
Holmes, who is in the final year of his contract with the Giants, has a $2.9 million cap hit. His release would have saved $2.74 million and would have counted for a $197,972 dead cap hit. Considering the Giants at times didn't have much cap space in the offseason, Holmes not being released to save money was a shock.
Holmes didn't have a good 2022 season and was asked to play a lot more than expected because of injuries to the secondary. With the additions of Deonte Banks and Tre Hawkins in the 2023 NFL Draft and the free agent signing of Amani Oruwariye, Holmes is still at risk of being a possible cut if he doesn't impress in the summer.
Unless Holmes does a massive 180 in his production and play, the Giants will probably look elsewhere for secondary help that doesn't cost as much on the books.
