NY Giants need to target this position in free agency right now

The Giants have filled a lot of needs in free agency, but one glaring hole remains.

Even with some notable players leaving the New York Giants in free agency, general manager Joe Schoen has done a good job revamping the team thus far. He has brought in many pieces for the offensive line and new OL coach Carmen Bricillo.

He has also traded for one of the best young edge-rushers in the game in Brian Burns. He has added quality players at multiple positions, but one spot still has a gaping hole: cornerback. The Giants desperately need to add a corner that can start opposite of Deonte Banks. There are still some solid players out there to be had. From our chair, we'd like to see Schoen target one of these three players:

CB Tre'Davious White has met with the Giants front office

Tre'Davious White is probably the best corner left on the market and is connected to the Giants for obvious reasons. White was set to visit with the Tennessee Titans, but after they traded for L'Jarius Sneed, the Giants seem to be in the driver's seat for the free agent corner.

White comes with big injury concerns, which is probably the reason he is still on the market. If the 29-year-old CB can stay healthy, he could be a great boost to a secondary that needs a lot of help. After Banks, there are a lot of questions for the CBs room.

The Giants may very well add to the position via the draft, but Banks and White could be a great corner duo for the Giants. Defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson would definitely love it.

Could the Giants go after Xavier Howard?

Elsewhere, Xavien Howard is a 30-year-old corner who last played for the Miami Dolphins. Howard had some big contracts in the past, but with the Dolphins moving on from the corner, Howard could find himself having to take a smaller one-year type of deal this deep into free agency.

The frenzy is over, and teams are moving into the next phase of the offseason like mid-level player signings and moving onto college Pro Days. The Giants could offer Howard a one year "prove it" deal. Howard would bring some much-needed veteran leadership to the young group. After new signing Jalen Mills, the group is still very young, led by Banks, Cor'dale Flott, and Nick McCloud.

Rock Ya-Sin would make sense for the Giants as well

The youngest and cheapest option on the list, Rock Ya-Sin is coming off a year with the Baltimore Ravens in which he was barely utilized. He played in 14 games, but only started in one this past season after a campaign in which he was heavily included with the Las Vegas Raiders.

After seeing at least 65 percent of defensive snaps on defense his first four years in the league, Ya-Sin only saw 29 percent of the defensive snaps this past season. Ya-Sin is a name that has been floated around with the Giants for a couple of seasons now, but this may be the best time for the Giants to add the veteran corner to the locker room.

Ya-Sin is known for his physical play style and would be a welcomed addition to the unit. With the corner not being used much this past season, along with some injuries in the past, Schoen could be adding a good young corner for a very good price who could bring some physicality and toughness to the backend of the defense.
