3 players the NY Giants must make room for on the final 53
Joe Schoen will have to finalize his final roster by Tuesday afternoon
With the preseason officially wrapped up for the NY Giants, some major decisions are on the way for general manager Joe Schoen. Come Tuesday, the Giants will have to trim their roster down to 53 ahead of Week 1 with Dallas.
There are plenty of guys who are considred 'fringe' players who could potentially make the 53-man list. From our chair, here's a look at three Giants who should be given a shot to take on the Cowboys. Will Schoen agree with us, or could these guys mentioned below end up getting cut or sent to the practice squad?
3. Pass-rusher Tomon Fox
One player the Giants need to give a serious look at is outside linebacker/pass-rusher Tomon Fox. The 25-year-old former undrafted free agent earned his spot last season with the Giants and proved that he can help the efforts up front. He flashed multiple times last preseason and continued to this preseason.
He has drawn the praise of multiple players and announcers, including Carl Banks, who has raved about his motor, ability to get to the quarterback, and apply pressure. With the pass-rush depth not being the greatest, Tomon could be the third or fourth option to rotate in after Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari.
The Giants may still look to add more players after the initial roster has been set, but look for Fox to have a bigger role this upcoming season. It's up in the air if he'll make the final roster or not, but due to the lack of depth on the outside, keeping Fox would make a ton of sense for Schoen and the rest of the NY front office.
