NY Giants sixth-round pick: Ole Miss EDGE Cedric Johnson

In several of the mock drafts, we’ve looked for EDGE help in the later rounds to give Kayvon Thibodeaux help on the other side. In this particular mock, we continue to look for that help and find Ole Miss edge-rusher Cedric Johnson as the final pick for the Giants in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Jonson had 5.5 sacks for Ole Miss in 2023, four of which came in the final five games played of the season. Johnson had 22 total sacks in his four years for Ole Miss. At 6-2 and 262 pounds, Johnson is seen as having an NFL sized frame that can come in and get after the quarterback.

Some think Johnson has room to grow as a pass-rusher and that he hasn’t even reached his full potential yet. Given the Giants need for extra pass-rush help to go with Thibodeaux and Dexter Lawrence up the middle, this is where Johnson can give the Giants that boost.

With Azeez Ojulari’s health being a liability and concern for the Giants, it’s why they need to look to the later rounds for a player like Johnson, whose explosiveness and aggressiveness can help the pass-rush and give it the boost it needs for 2024.
