NY Giants rookie minicamp date and offseason schedule officially announced
It's hard to believe, but football is almost back in our lives. Yes, the regular season is still pretty far out, but what if we told you the NY Giants rookies will be in East Rutherford soon for their first minicamp with the team. That's exactly what's going to happen.
The 2024 rookie minicamp dates have been set, with the G-Men youngsters set to be in action from May 9-11. This will be our first look at No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers, second-round pick safety Tyler Nubin and others. Keep in mind UDFAs will look to make a splash as well.
When will the NY Giants get started with offseason OTAs?
Following the rookie minicamp, Daniel Jones, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibdoeaux, Dexter Lawrence and the other vets will be joining up for the start of the offseason OTAs. Things will get started there on May 20. Below is a full list of the OTAs dates:
• May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, June 3-4 and June 6-7
There will also be a mandatory minicamp from June 11-13. Obviously, there are going to be a ton of eyes on several guys, including Jones and Drew Lock. General manager Joe Schoen has said that Jones is his QB1 when healthy, but there's been a ton of buzz recently that Lock could win the job.
Jones is still working his way back from his torn ACL in Week 9 of the 2023 season against the Raiders. He's not expected to be a full go for workouts in May and June, but the hope is that he'll be fully cleared by the time training camp gets here in the summer.
Jones is entering Year 2 of his $160 million deal and the expectation is that barring unreal play from him in '24, this will likely be his final season with the team. If Lock ends up winning the starting job, it will be guaranteed that he won't be back in 2025. Regardless, that one and some other interesting battles will be on the way and we'll get a first look at things coming soon.
