Edge Rushers: Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Azeez Ojulari and Boogie Basham

This position is rather cut and dry, not really leaving much room for anyone other than the four listed above to make the cut. Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux were two top-tier edge rushers last season, while Azeez Ojulari and Boogie Basham have the most potential out of anyone else in the unit.

Ojulari was previously a starter for the Giants, and when healthy, he was rather productive. Having his level of play as a backup could be huge for the defense, especially considering the potential uses he could have in other spots on the field.

Burns and Thibodeaux will likely form one of the best pass-rushing duos in the NFL this season. These two players, plus Lawrence, will hopefully be able to propel the Giants' defense and help give the weakened secondary some assistance.

Inside linebackers: Bobby Okereke, Micah McFadden, Isaiah Simmons, Darius Muasau, Dyontae Johnson and Carter Coughlin

This is where things could get interesting. We're going to give Dyontae Johnson the benefit of the doubt and have him make the final roster, but there's a real chance he doesn't make it. All of the linebackers listed ahead of him have guaranteed roster spots, and his injury following preseason Week 1 hurts his chances even more.

Despite this, Johnson has shown a ton in training camp, and it's clear the Giants believe in him, so I can see a world where they trust Johnson's development and give him a spot with the team. As for Carter Coughlin, he's a special teams beast, so keeping him around makes a ton of sense compared to other guys on the roster.

If they opt to keep Johnson around, it will be interesting to see if he potentially pushes for Micah McFadden's job during the regular season. McFadden made tons of improvement last season, but was still very inconsistent. McFadden suffered a hip injury, which might keep him off the field for Week 1.
