There are few people on the planet who love the NY Giants more than Sterling Shepard does. He's the definition of a true Giant, and fans are jacked up to see him back in East Rutherford getting himself ready for the 2023 campaign.
Unfortunately in the Week 3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last fall, Shepard went down with a torn ACL at MetLife Stadium. As soon as he suffered the injury, a lot of fans were worried it'd be his last time donning a Big Blue jersey.
Shepard is back on a one-year deal, though, and he's been on his grind in his recovery. At minicamp on Tuesday, Shepard said he's feeling great and that he's ahead of schedule in his rehab. Not only that, but we could see him ready for action to take on the Cowboys in the season-opener.
NY Giants WR Sterling Shepard is hoping to play Week 1 vs. the Dallas Cowboys
Shepard is one of the most personable guys on the team and he's simply an easy guy to root for. Prior to suffering his serious knee injury last campaign, he tore his Achilles the year before. For him to suffer back-to-back injuries like that was heartbreaking to see.
His '22 started off with a bang, as people loved seeing him haul in his 65-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Jones in the thrilling win over the Tennessee Titans in Nashville. That just goes to show the kind of impact he can make for the offense.
The man known as 'Shep' still has a long way to go in his recovery, but he's been making fantastic strides. He's an important player for this offense and the team as a whole. Teammates are always ready to speak highly of Shepard.
The fans at MetLife Stadium will welcome him home in style in early September if he is able to suit up vs. the Cowboys. If he does play in that game, folks will lose their minds if he makes his way into the end zone too.
