2. OT Mekhi Becton

The Giants had an opportunity to draft New York Jets offensive lineman Mekhi Becton back during the 2020 NFL Draft, but they opted for Andrew Thomas. That decision has aged fabulously, even if there were doubts after the duo’s rookie seasons.

As it stands at the moment, Thomas has inked a monster extension with the New York team that drafted him, while Becton’s worn out his welcome after a strong start. Regardless, with Becton’s size and talent, there are bound to be a couple of teams who believe their coaching staff can get the best out of the former first-rounder.

Perhaps it would’ve been a good idea for the Giants of years past, but with their own version of Becton on the roster already in Evan Neal, New York can’t afford to take on another reclamation project. There simply isn’t room in the offensive line unit for Becton and Neal, figuratively, of course.

Becton has been massively disappointing over the last three seasons, but some of that could be chalked up to injuries. Still, if the Jets, who are strapped for offensive line help, are giving up on the hulking tackle, the Giants should avoid trying to outsmart their cross-town rivals in this scenario.
